Welcome to the VCON 41 Online Schedule!

VCON is the oldest general-interest science fiction, fantasy, and games convention in Canada and the Pacific Northwest. This 100% volunteer fan-organized convention has promoted the interests of science fiction and fantasy culture in Vancouver BC and its environs since 1971, offering events and exhibits focused on a variety of Science Fiction and Fantasy fandom interest areas such as literature, art, media, music, costumes, comics, tabletop games, electronic games, etc. For more detailed information visit our website: www.vcon.ca.

VCON 41 will be held Sep 30 - Oct 2, 2016, at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford hotel. The convention’s main theme is "Muppets, Puppets & Marionettes" with a secondary theme of "The Small Press Cabal".

The 3 Hour Monster Puppet Head with Dusty Hagerud #2

Maximum participants: 16
Recommended minimum age: 13+ or adult supervision if hand sewing, hot glue, and Exacto blades are not an issue.
Materials fee: $40
Materials fee covers: Multiple fun fur colours, eye balls, eye iris felt, foam strips, misc. craft supplies 
Other requirements:  A notepad and pen are recommended as a lot of puppet building tricks and tips may come up in conversation.
Workshop duration:  3 hours

Workshop description:  Ever wanted to learn how to make your very own muppe... err... monster puppet ? Well, this is the workshop for you! Spend three hours with a professional puppeteer to learn the techniques and build a simple hand operated monster puppet head.

In 3 hours you will build a simple hand operated monster puppet head. First, you will construct a felt a mouth plate. Then you'll choose from a few head shape patterns and cut and stitch (with the Henson stitch!) a fun fur head and then attach the mouth plate into it. From that point, it’s all decoration with eyes, tongue and whichever other adornments you would like to add to make it your very own, personalized, monster puppet!
