Welcome to the VCON 41 Online Schedule!

VCON is the oldest general-interest science fiction, fantasy, and games convention in Canada and the Pacific Northwest. This 100% volunteer fan-organized convention has promoted the interests of science fiction and fantasy culture in Vancouver BC and its environs since 1971, offering events and exhibits focused on a variety of Science Fiction and Fantasy fandom interest areas such as literature, art, media, music, costumes, comics, tabletop games, electronic games, etc. For more detailed information visit our website: www.vcon.ca.

VCON 41 will be held Sep 30 - Oct 2, 2016, at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford hotel. The convention’s main theme is "Muppets, Puppets & Marionettes" with a secondary theme of "The Small Press Cabal".

Make Miniature Aliens and Robots with Thyrza #1

Recommended minimum age: 12+ or adult supervision
Materials fee: $10
Workshop duration:  3 hours

Workshop description: We are going to be making miniature aliens from polymer clay and photographing them in dioramas in to illustrate scenes from a story created by the participants.

You will walk away with your amazing little alien a set of tutorials and photographs of your little monster.

Thyrza Segal is a VCON Guest of Honour Emeritus. She graduated from the set and costume design program of the National Theatre School in Montreal and then went on to work in theatre and TV and film (including as assistant costume designer on Stargate Atlantis). But she quit film work 10 years ago to do her own art and has been painting, making lamps, terrariums, photography , sculpting, assembling and Photoshopping since then.
